What is Price Strategy and how it works

Length: 10 minutes

Price strategy is the standardization of the way of generating rates, based on real costs and with a defined percentage of profits, allows the generation of prices to be controlled by the system and that does not require human intervention to follow a standard flow. Your pricing strategies could shape your overall profitability for the future.

  • First you will find a search bar where you can put a specific strategy name to find it. You will also see some filters as Origin, Destination, Type of Movement, Commodity and Validity date until, this will help you to find your strategies quickly.
  • To be able to start a new price strategy, you need to configure your settings first. Click on the button settings and it will take you to a need view.
  • Here is where you will start doing your configurations for rates, Quote/ Bill of lading structure and Value-added services.
  • Click on + New rate, and the system will open a modal where you will add the information required.

In this modal you can add the rate name, choose an option between contract or spot in type, Min profitability, minimum quantity of containers (FFEU) and containers / Monthly, then click on Save.

Once your rate is saved, you will see it like this on the main settings view. You can add as many rates as you need.

You will see a kebab menu next to the rate name, it will show you 2 options, Edit, or Delete the rate.

If you click on Edit, it will show you a modal where you can change the information and then click on save.

If you click on Delete, the system will show you a modal where you can confirm the elimination of that record.

Now we are going to add our prices, select the button + New Price and the system will show you a modal where you can add the information.

  • Here you will select one of your prices, then you will see there is a check box that says Optional price (Optional prices can be included in a quote. If the price is not included, it will be 0).
  • Then select the type of price between Normal Price, Floating or Documentation. (A floating price can be updated regularly. When making a contract you can decide if you want to keep the price as floating or set a fix value of the current price. When updated all clients with floating price will be notified of the change), (Documentation prices are charged once per shipment), then save it.
  • Once your price is saved, you will see it like this on the main settings view. You can add as many prices as you need.
  • The price Ocean Freight is a value that the system will calculate automatically.

You will see a kebab menu next to the price name, it will show you 2 options, Edit or Delete

If you click on Edit, it will show you a modal where you can change the information and then click on continue.

If you click on Delete, the system will show you a modal where you can confirm the elimination of that record.

To complete our configuration, we are going to add a new service selecting the button + New Service.

  • Here you will create services with extra costs that can be added to quotes.
  • Select one of the prices, set a value per each container and save it.

Once your added service has been saved, you will see it like this on the main settings view. You can add as many added services as you need.

You will see a kebab menu next to the service name, it will show you 2 options, Edit or Delete

If you click on Edit, it will show you a modal where you can change the information and then click on save.
