Sometimes talk about Japanese vessels or taxes in Europe may sound distant to ordinary people. But, the truth is even little changes in the supply chain affect everybody nowadays. One single case of Covid-19 in a Chinese port can change the prices of products worldwide. 

The governments aren’t recovered from the first wave of pandemics yet, therefore the international supply chain is so unstable. In addition, the logistic process is completely integrated. If one product gets delayed, then the next one does so this disruption continues. And a horizon of uncertainty just makes things even more complicated. 

The consequences of disruptions in the supply chain 

Not just the shelves of the market feel the consequences. The psychological damage is also relevant with all the shortages, prove of it is the uncontrolled overbuying wich worst the situation. It´s even worse when a product that isn’t having any trouble in distribution, like toilet paper, faces a shortage because of this. The supply chain already needs to handle the inevitable problems.  

With the lack of skilled labor in the trucking industry, ports cannot work effectively, which makes food and other materials less available in markets. 

Beyond the shortages, another problem that affects us daily is the prices. If there´s less of a product the price will rise, consequently the quality gets worst. The companies and the people deal with the same problems, however on different levels. 

These phenomena affect how restaurants and housemaids will choose the meal they will serve. Fresh foods costs increase at outstanding levels, which affects the health of the people. Another repercussion of supply chain disruptions in our daily lives is the growing numbers of donations all over the world to help those who don´t have food. 

Thus, keeping an eye on the international supply chain is not important just for investors or managers, anyone can suffer the consequences.
