Waffles and the new era at the supply chain

What person does not enjoy waffles? They are crispy and soft, and they go well with any topping. It would not be an exaggeration to suggest that they are sacrosanct because they were invented from the dough used to make wafers in the Catholic church.

Seeing this originally Belgian cuisine turn into a typical American meal makes me reflect on how the world is integrating. Consider how difficult it is to have strawberries available throughout the year, particularly in locations where these fruits do not grow.

Having decent waffles on the table requires an entire supply chain; getting it out of the ground and onto the shelves is not as straightforward as it appears. And it’s more complicated now than it used to be.

We are living in a new era in the supply chain, and consumer demand and immediacy are growing in tandem with disruptions in global transportation. There are Covid outbreaks, port blockades, city closures, labor shortages, and a slew of other issues.

To survive and grow in the face of so many problems, businesses must undergo a technical and digital revolution. An intelligent operating system capable of evaluating and centralizing all data to generate accurate projections is a game-changer.

It is also a basic requirement to assure visibility that all sections of the supply chain maintain constant and fluid contact. After all, who wants to eat a waffle that has no idea where it originated from? I don’t believe anyone would.
